Carbonite Launches Cheaper and Efficient Cloud Storage Services
FREMONT, CA: Most of the entrepreneurs have some incidents in their life that triggered them to build startups. The case is not different with David Friend, CEO and founder of Carbonite, a popular Cloud-based file storage service designed for consumers and small business, reports Bruce Rogers for Forbes.
For David Friend, it’s the pathetic plight of his daughter who lost some of her sensitive data due to laptop crash that made David to think about an online storage system which is more secured and cost effective.
With the help of Carbonite, files are sent to the cloud automatically and continually in the background, while the employees’ are at work. Files are encrypted and transmitted using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology to one of the state-of-the-art data centers.
No matter where the employees are located, Carbonite is embedded with a simple browser-based dashboard that let the users to centrally manage the backup status of everyone in the company. Carbonite also offers speedy backup, recovery and minimizes downtime. It has the potential to restore the entire system which includes operating systems, applications, databases and files. With the appliance, data can be recovered to new or existing hardware or, even to dissimilar hardware using the adaptive restore feature.
To add up, carbonite has addressed HIPAA regulatory compliance requirements by implementing administrative, physical and technical safeguards that ensure the confidentiality, integrity and security of data.
